Inspired by a Book mani series - Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief

Every week I will bring you nail art! Thursdays used to be Fail Art Thursday, but hopefully I'll have less "fail" here! I'm going to do this series (for as long as I can), with nail art inspired by books! The covers of books specifically. I hope to be able to do this EVERY Thursday - and I'm going to try my hardest to make this a weekly feature - there are SO many books I can utilize :)

So what is this week's book? I had my son pick again, and this time he chose the book he's currently reading - Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lighting Thief. We recently saw the second movie, Sea of Monsters, in the theatre, so Lucas decided to try reading the books (We've got the first movie on DVD). We are Percy fans. We really enjoy the books, and we like the movies. We don't equate them the same. The books are the books, the movies are the movies. With this book, I wanted to do something special because Lucas kept bugging me about doing the lightning bolts. Ok...

Yeah, I decided to go with glow in the dark polish :) It doesn't look nearly as appealing in it's non-GITD state...

Here's the polishes I used for the blue "edge" and gradient...The Pop teal color I used for the color on the spine of the book (even tho it's not exact haha) and the greens are China Glaze Exotic Encounters (sent for review), Catrice I Sea You (procured in a swap with a friend), JulieG Holla-Peno (sent for review) and OPI Gargantuan Green Grape (purchased with my money).

I spent a lot of time practicing the lightning bolts. Even tho they aren't perfect I'm really proud of them :)

Black light
Pulled the black light back a little...

And here it is in natural/regular light with the book cover :)

So what do you guys think? I am really looking forward to what I can accomplish with this feature! Is there a book you'd like to see me attempt nail art inspired by? I'll gladly take suggestions! I can even get the book checked out from the library if need be ;)
