Inspired by a Book Mani - Girl Overboard by Justina Chen Headley

Every week I will bring you nail art! Thursdays used to be Fail Art Thursday, but hopefully I'll have less "fail" here! I'm going to do this series (for as long as I can), with nail art inspired by books! The covers of books specifically. I hope to be able to do this EVERY week - and I'm going to try my hardest to make this a weekly feature - there are SO many books I can utilize :)

Today's featured book is one I've never read before - Girl Overboard by Justina Chen Headley. I honestly just went to the library looking for cool covers, and I found this one. I'm not even sure what the book is about. I'm guessing snowboarding. I thought the cover just looked like great mani material!

Polishes used for this nail art are Milani White On the Spot and Peacock (both are press samples), and Julie  Damsel and Fierce & Fab (both purchased by me). I also used a tiny dotting tool and some straight vinyl pieces from Royal Lacquer (those are the pink strips on the dotting tool).

First thing I did was use a base of Peacock. Then I blocked off my ring finger nail with some of the vinyls and put a coat of Damsel over the whole nail and removed the vinyls. Looking back, I could have just tried to use the vinyls as a sticker if I'd wanted to. They are bright pink!

Then I just kinda..... let loose with the teeny dotting tool and White on White. I made it look like a blizzard, and I didn't watch to make my dots perfectly formed. I finished it up with some random dots of Fierce & Fab, because if you look at the book closely, you can see little faded purple dots among the white.

I think it turned out really well! I'm glad I grabbed this book when I was at the library. I really should do this more often - but I do like to be able to say I've read the books I've featured hahah

So what do you guys think? I am really looking forward to what I can accomplish by continuing this feature! Is there a book you'd like to see me attempt nail art inspired by? I'll gladly take suggestions! I can even get the book checked out from the library if need be ;)
