LaSplash Classic Horror matte lippies

What's that saying about the best laid plans? I always have amazing plans. I've been meaning to post about these LASplash Classic Horror lippies for months, but I just haven't had the time to sit down and do it. Well, the time is now!

It's no secret that I love Halloween and scary movies and all things horror-related. I knew when I first saw these advertised that I just had to have them. I wasn't sure I could pull off each and every shade, so I just got the ones I thought would work for me. There's a total of 8 shades, and I purchased 4. Each is a nod to a Horror Icon with a female twist... and BOY do they have staying power. I had one that I couldn't get off for the life of me and had to resort to scrubbing my lips with a sugar scrub and then using lipstick remover AND lipstick remover wipes!

Creature - Creature's the one! A deep, deep smokey purple that almost became my natural lip color, it took an act of sheer will to get this off my lips! haha It was on for 6 hours after I put it on. Nothing budged it. I tried eating a few coarse foods (like scraping chips across my lips), and nothing! I had to use a sugar scrub that I purchased at Ulta (it's pretty much just sugar haha!), and I used a lipstick removal gel from NYX... but it was still hanging on! I ended up using a Pacifica cherry-flavored lipstick removal wipe to get the rest of it off. Suffice to say, my lips and the area around them looked like I had to plague for the next day haha!

I wasn't as impressed with Drac as I wanted to be. This blood red never matted down for me. It stayed shiny. It's a gorgeous shade, but I just can't wear this deep of a color shiny. It would work much better for me matte. Just like Creature, it took some doing to get it off my lips. Staying power is strong with these!

Ms. Hyde is a shade I will totally wear for every day! I guess I kind of looked at the other 3 as shades to wear on special occasions, or with costumes, or for special make-up looks, but Mrs. Hyde is a gorgeous toasted almond brown shade. I just adore it. It was instant matte. I had a bit of trouble getting the color off, but sugar scrub took care of it.

Phantom was a lot like Drac. It just never matted down, and I couldn't get good coverage. It leans more a grape color than Creature. I love the shade, just not the formula.

Have you tried these lippies? I'm glad I bought them, but not impressed overall to try the shades I'm not sure I could pull off. You can buy them right now from the LASplash website for $12 ($16 regularly) each or $96 for the set of 8 ($128 regularly).

**DISCLAIMER** I was not paid for this review by anyone. I either purchased these products myself or was given it as a gift.
