I have been wanting to try ColourPop lippies for a very, very long time. I took the plunge and ordered one of the Ultra Matte Lipsticks, and I was so excited! I chose the shade Ouija, and I think, perhaps, that was my biggest mistake...

When I chose that shade, I didn't think it was such a shocking pink. The swatches I saw online looked like a muted, dusty shade of pink, and when I got it, I was more in-your-face. But that is neither here nor there compared to the formula. I had read that using super thin coats was the way to go with these, so I tried a very thin swipe across my lips. The lipstick is really REALLY pigmented, but, as you can see below, the payoff kind of, well, flaked off.


I'm just not impressed. Yes, it dried to a great matte finish, but it's just not good for me. Am I alone in this? Is it, possibly, just this shade? Would I have more luck with another from this line? I'm not sure. Can anyone give me any advice? I do exfoliate and moisturize my lips every day, so that isn't a concern of mine. I've never had any issues with other matte lip products, so I'm not sure what my issue is. Maybe my lips just don't gel with these?
