The one with Fail Art Thursday - Milani dotting practice!

Ack! I'm way late with Fail Art Thursday! haha I've got some dotting practice with some of the gorgeous Milani polishes I have! Let's just get right to it, shall we?
Random dots! hehe I used a base of Milani Pink & Proper, and dotted with Violet Dash, White on the Spot, Black Swift and Sail Away. I need to work on getting the dots good intervals apart. I was just dotting away when I did this hehe

Multicolored dotted flowers :) I used Milani Jiffy Orange, Violet Dash, Yellow Whiz, Hot Pink Frenzy and Rapid Cherry. I think they turned out well :) This is one mani I'm going to keep practicing. I wish I could use just white and yellow, but then they always turn out like fried eggs...

The one with Milani shimmers, pt 1

Good day all! Quick post for today, featuring some shimmery goodness from Milani! I have three polishes to show you today :)

First up is Sail Away - a silver shimmer infused deep blue that isn't quite navy. Formula was a dream. No streakiness or patchiness. Just two perfect coats :)

Next up is Key West, a foil-y looking gorgeous teal-ish green...kinda mermaid-y. This polish stained my nails. Not so much that I had issues getting them clean, but enough to be a hassle. I do adore the polish, tho. The formula on this one, for me, was a little on the thick side, but it wasn't so bad that it had performance issues. A little thicker is actually an okay thing...it means it comes closer to a one coater :)

And finally, Beach Front....a light sky blue with silver shimmer. I had settling in my bottle and the shimmer all went to one place. Took a few shakings to get it evened out :) This color is nice and the formula is great, but it's just not for me. I think it's too light for me, maybe. But that doesn't detract from the fact that the polish is good :)

So what do you think? Do you have any of these? Looking at them together makes me wonder why they would look like in nail art...a watermarble perhaps? Or maybe a splatter mani? Tape mani? The possibilities are endless :)

The one with Milani Mint Candy and Deep Thoughts!

Hello my lovelies! Beauties? Homies? Peeps? What should I start calling you guys? haha I need a unique name to call my readers :) Today I am featuring two more Milani polishes that are GOR-GEOUS. Yes, say it in two syllables because that's how pretty these puppies are!

First up is Mint Candy. I love this one! It's the lightest, freshest, mintiest color I own hehe It's got the slightest hint of a shimmer, greenish-blueish? And is just overall beautiful. I wore this polish for several days and got compliments everywhere I went :) Two coats to perfection and the formula is smooth as butter. Not a problem at all with this polish.

What other color today? Oh yeah, Deep Thoughts, a deep, shimmery dark royal purple. It's just a beautiful finish, but I did have issues with application. It may have been user error, let me stress that. I might not have waited long enough for my first coat to dry before applying my second. I was watching TV and wasn't paying attention to the time. But it was a tad thick and streaky in my experience - but like I said could have been user error!

So what do you think? Do you have either of these polishes? I did use them in a gradient together, but yuck, it was awful! haha

The one with China Glaze Make Some Noise!

Happy Memorial Day! (as my son burst into our bedroom this morning screaming) I hope everyone has a nice holiday and remembers the reason for this day off. I figured I'd stick with my pinky coralish streak and feature another color along the same line...China Glaze Make Some Noise :) It's a deep pinky coral creme, and the formula is fabulous. Perfection in two coats.

It's a deeper color, and you can see the orange-redness creeping in, but to me, there's still a lot of pinky coral there. I adore this color.

The one with OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster

*yawn* Happy Sunday. I'm groggy. I don't think I slept well. But it's a holiday weekend, so I get to sleep in tomorrow, and hopefully that will take care of the problem. Today I have a good polish to show you - OPI I Eat Mainely Lobster, which was one of the polishes in the Touring America Collection. I received this in a secret swap, and I could not be happier. It's got the subtlest hint of shimmer to the pinky coralish color.

I really like this color! I will most definitely wear it a lot. The formula was smooth, and two coats covered it!

The one with great gradient day!

In a Facebook group I'm in, today has been deemed Great Gradient Friday (or something like that). I tried. Twice. I suck at gradients for the time being, and I'm okay with that. I conquered watermarbles this week, so I have no reason to be down that I can't gradient worth spit. I used some frankens (which technically qualifies this as Franken Friday!) from Laurie at Dressed up Digits for my first one...
I thought it would be a good idea! My instincts were way off! hahahahah For my second attempt, I used three Milani polishes...Mint Candy Beach front and Deep Thoughts...
eeew eeew eewww! I'm still wearing this, but only because it was too late last night to take it off and start all over. Trust me, tonight this will come off as soon as I'm able! hahah I guess I just need to keep practicing. But this may be something, like stamping, that I just can't get the hang of. I'm okay with it if I never do. Some things I just can't do :)

The one with Fail Art Thursday - a minty marble!

I tell ya, kids, this watermarbling stuff is really for the birds. Even when I get it right, I screw it up! Case in point today's post - a minty looking watermarble. IT WAS PERFECT. I actually did it right! It looked beautiful! So today my fail isn't the art...it's the top coat :(

PLEASE IMAGINE THIS MANI BEFORE THE TOP COAT SMEARED IT :( I used OPI Suzi Says Da!, Mermaid's Tears and Jade is the New Black
It makes me so sad! I had done it - conquered the watermarble beast! But top coat had to ruin it. I'm kicking myself for not taking pre-top coat pictures. UGH Lessons learned. I did everything I was told to do in regards to top coat and art. I had lots of top coat on my brush, I didn't drag the brush too close to the nail...I dunno why it had to ruin it. Has this type of thing ever happened to you?

The one with Dollish Polish Team Salvatore!

Ugh - I broke a nail again! Actually several nails. I had planned to swatch some more Milani polishes, but I spent my time fixing the nails that crumbled (and then doing a truly remarkable watermarble, well, at least for me!), so for today, I have a neat indie polish, Dollish Polish Team Salvatore! Of course, named for the brothers on Vampire Diaries! This is a glitter topper, so I wore it over Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies...
Clear base packed with red, black and silver glitter of different shapes and sizes! It doesn't particularly scream "SALVATORE BROTHERS" at me, but that's neither here nor there...because I LOVE THIS GLITTER! I have my own set of Vampire Diaries-inspired frankens, so you could say I already the polishes that speak to me in regards to that show! hahah Do you have this polish? Did you layer it over anything?

The one with Milani High Speed Fast Drys, pt 2

*phew* Lazy Tuesday! When my husband got up for work (he works from home, at a computer station in our bedroom), I went to the couch to lay back down. I fell asleep for two more hours! Heck, I must've really needed the sleep :) Today, my son and I are gonna go on a picnic at a local state park. I'm excited :) But first let me show you some more Milani High Speed Fast Drys!
First up today is Jiffy Orange, which I shouldn't have to tell you is my favorite! Smooth, creamy...but still not a one coater. That is literally the ONLY bad thing I can say about most of these High Speed Fast Drys. The pigment is wonderful, and the formula is good...it's just not a one coat formula. I'm totally in love with this one. I love everything about it!
Oooh, I am loving this Rapid Cherry! It's the most gorgeous shade of cherry red, and is a smooth as silk formula. If played right, it could be a one coater! I still used two coats. But this one is divine! I love it. It makes me want to eat my fingers because it's so candy-licious.
Oh Yellow Whiz. What a horrible name for you, and what an icky formula! It was thick, streaky and patchy. Definitely NOT a one coater. But the pigmenting is fantastic. It is very densely colored. That is a plus! But overall, I didn't like this polish.

What do you think? Which of these is your favorite? What do you think of the name of the yellow one? haha
