The one with "what lies beneath" my polish...

Ok, so today I decided to veer a little differently. Everyone's nails (well, for the most part) look flawless with polish (if it's applied correctly). I guess I just wanted to dispel any myths about my nails...because they are absolutely not perfect. I work hard on my nails, but sometimes things happen. The worst for me is cuticles and peels...
Six years ago I had an accident, which really damaged my arm. My left hand is still largely numb. I have to type with only my ring finger on this hand...hence the one edge of my ring finger constantly in a state of see-thru-ness (is that a word? haha it is now!) It's the only thing taking a beating...and because of the way my wrist doesn't bend like it used to, that edge of the nail is always the place hitting the keyboard. The "uneven free edge" is actually something out of my control that changes day-to-day. My pointer and middle finger have changed. I have new fingerprints. And from the lack of use (I rarely use these two fingers for anything), my nail bed has changed. It's attached farther up the underside of my nail that all the other fingers...
It looks like underside of my nails is never, ever clean. It always looks like there's something underneath my nail. And you bet it STINGS LIKE FIRE when I separate it on accident. The first time it brought me to tears because it hurt so bad. Add that pain on top of my nerves going insane whenever I have even the slightest injury to my left hand. Once I got a papercut, and I swear it felt like someone was breaking my hand with a hammer.
And just for good measure, let's check out my right hand. hahahahh! HAHAHAHAH! THIS IS ON THEIR WORST DAY. My hand does not always look like this...I just wanted to show how bad it can be. Let me preface this by saying that because of the limited mobility of my left hand, I have issues taking care of my right hand. All the peely cuticles, all the ickiness...it's a direct result of my inability to properly condition and remove cuticles. I dare not use the nippers because sometimes my left hand shakes or twitches. So I'm left with cuticle remover gel and clumsily pushing the cuticles around with an orange stick...and my left hand doesn't have much strength...so you can imagine :)

*phew* There you have it. "What lies beneath" my polish. Granted my nails so NOT always look like this. I just wanted to show everyone that nails are more than likely never perfect. You can cover a lot with polish :)
