I recently went to a Vampire Diaries convention in Chicago put on by Creation Entertainment, so I'm sharing my experience with my readers! I will have a series of posts (hopefully with a lot of pictures!) of all the panels I got to take part in during the event, which took place in April 2013. There may be spoilers for both the TV show AND the books in this series - so read at your own risk!

I know you guys are all just wanting more Ian and Paul, aren't you? Ok, ok. Ian Somerhalder (Damon Salvatore) and Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore) were the stars of a special half-hour panel for Gold Patrons at the 2013 Chicago convention.


Yes, Ian wore that adorable hat during the Gold Patrons panel. I'm going to warn you right now. This post is VERY picture heavy. This cut is very, very necessary; but you totally want to click it...



First of all, let me just say that I've forgotten most of what was said at the panel. hahahah I was seriously too busy staring at the pretty up on stage in those chairs. Also, we had another panel with Ian and Paul the exact same day, so in my mind, all the questions jumble together :) I'll do my best to remember which is what.


Notice Ian's finger. It's broken, and jokingly according to him, it got that way by punching his brother. I never did hear if he explained the real reason, but during the autograph session, a fan in front of me asked how his finger felt, and he replied, "Ya know, it hurts like hell."


This panel differed than the other panels because there were no pre-selected questions. The Hillywood girls just roamed through the audience, and Ian and Paul picked people to ask them questions. These are some of the things I remember: Paul saying they wear pink thongs; Ian saying he likes "bourbon, bourbon and bourbon" for fun; Paul calling Ian "Smoldy-pants." Paul also told us that he thinks the Don Equis guy, dubbed "the most interesting man in the world," was what Ian would be like when he was older.


Ian shared that his favorite episode was Lost Girls, which is the episode where Damon turned Vicki into a vampire. This prompted one fan in the audience to ask Ian to do the shirtless dance he performed in the episode. Ian admitted he retired that dance...that three years was enough haha However, he went on to say, he'd heard Mick Jagger was quoted as saying he wouldn't be performing on stage at the age he is now, so...and Ian and Paul jokingly agreed that in 30 years, Ian would be at Vampire Diaries cons with a revival of that dance hahah


When asked if they could take anything from the set, Paul joked that in one of Ian's bath scenes, Ian had to wear a sock, and Paul wanted that sock. Ian said he and Paul were like an old married couple, and indeed, they acted like it! haha When asked about the possibility of starring in the 50 Shades of Gray adaptation, Ian was seriously mum, almost to the point of evasion. But...Ian and Paul admitted they were doing their own version - 50 Shades of Salvatore!


Previously, Paul had mentioned that, in the end, he didn't want Elena to end up with either brother. He hoped she would say "so long!" and take off with someone else, leaving the brothers with no one but themselves, ultimately. When someone asked him about that our the Gold Patrons panel, Paul answered, giving several depressing scenes in succession: a sunset, water rippling, a dying flower, two spoons...and then this:
