So this week I'm going to be doing this thing where I only post products I've purchased with my own money. Why am I doing this? I'd started to notice a trend in what I was posting - and it was very heavy on the samples from companies. When I first started this blog 2 1/2 years ago, I was DETERMINED to do everything on my own, that I wasn't going to be one of those bloggers who looked like they are doing it for free product. Then I got my first press samples... I won't deny that press samples are awesome. But there came a point, for me, when I looked at my blog, and other blogs, and wondered what the motive is. If you're in it for the free stuff, it's not the right motivation - and that's how this was born.

So what's on tap for today? Two of the NYC Appleicious Glossy Lip Balms! I am in love with the packaging and even more in the love with the smoothness of these balms.


How cute are these lip balms? The two I chose are Big Apple Red, pictured on the left, and Apple Blueberry Pie. The apple "core" is ultra moisturizing. There is a little tint of color to these balms, and the shine is great! I can't really attest to how long they last because, honestly, I kept licking them off when I wore them. They don't have a very dense taste of anything, but the scent was enough to trick my tastebuds! haha I just reapplied, and that didn't bother me a bit :)


Above are one-swipe swatches on my arm, the color looks darker on my arm than it does on the lip. The first set of lips shown is Apple Blueberry Pie. The tint is ever so slightly purple.


Next I've got on Big Apple Red. It almost has an orange-y feel to it.


NYC cosmetics are available at WalMart, Duane Reade, Target, KMart, CVS and Rite Aid. These market for $2.99, but they were cheaper at WalMart, where I snagged these. I want to say they were $2.84, but I could be wrong.
