So this week I'm going to be doing this thing where I only post products I've purchased with my own money. Why am I doing this? I'd started to notice a trend in what I was posting - and it was very heavy on the samples from companies. When I first started this blog 2 1/2 years ago, I was DETERMINED to do everything on my own, that I wasn't going to be one of those bloggers who looked like they are doing it for free product. Then I got my first press samples... I won't deny that press samples are awesome. But there came a point, for me, when I looked at my blog, and other blogs, and wondered what the motive is. If you're in it for the free stuff, it's not the right motivation - and that's how this was born.

So what's on tap for today? My new favorite lipstick! I think I've said before that my favorite finishes for lipstick are matte and vinyl. I dunno why. I really like the flatness of them, the way they don't attract uber attention with their shiny or glittery ways. So when I was at Ulta a few weeks ago (I don't get to go to Ulta that often, as they are semi-far away from me), I was perusing the NYX lipsticks thinking it was high time I purchased one. I ran across the color Bloody Mary...and with a name like that, I knew I needed it!




I love how in NYX lipstick tubes you can see the color in the middle. I think that's SO COOL! Another of my favorite brands, Jesse's Girl, does that with their lipsticks, too. I like the preview.


As I've said before, I was never very bold with my makeup. Peach lips were pretty much the only thing I would wear. But lately, I've started going brighter with my face, and actually wearing richer colors like this out in public. This color really compliments my skintone, which is a medium. I'm not really pale, and I'm not really tanned. I really like the feel of this lipstick on my lips. It's not sticky or goopy. It glides on smooth and lasted 5 hours on me without having to be reapplied.
