Trend alert: antique gold! ...featuring NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Pure Gold

Trends are funny aren't they? Lots of predictions, lots of hits and misses. I've never really been trendy much. I sort of do my own thing, and just let things happen. But today I've got a trend happening that I'm sort of excited about - antique gold. The color, not the metal! haha And maybe I'm excited about it because it comes in the form of an eye pencil ;)

I adore the NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils. I actually love all eye pencils - well, I did meet one I didn't like, but we won't talk about it ;) But the NYX ones glide on my lid with no pulling or skipping. They are great and are super pigmented. I picked this eye pencil up at Goody's. I had NO idea NYX was sold at Goody's :) There isn't an Ulta close to me really, so this is much more convenient!

Now we all know I'm still learning blending and eye tricks. I'm getting better at some and still working on others. I decided to pair this antique gold pencils with a purpley color with disastrous results...too much going on on top! I should not have used the eye pencil about my eyelid! hahahahah

Then I tried it with a blue. and a coppery orange color. Looking better, but I think the top is way too heavy. I've learned I need lighter colors on the browbone and upwards of my lid. I always end up looking way too, um, what's the word...POW. Not that word. But it's so IN YOUR FACE.

I think I may have found happy ground with a green combo! Lighter on top, colorful around the lashes. This look suits me much better! I'm still working on it, tho, learning every day :)

So what do you think of antique gold? I've never much bee a fan of antique gold nail polish, but I think in eyeshadow, especially in pencil form, it's nice.
