7 NYC City Samba collection nail polishes swatches+review

**press sample**
I've got a partial collection from NYC for you today - the City Samba collection! I'm only missing one polish. I hoped and hoped and searched and searched, but I could not get the last one. These seven were provided by PR, so I figured what the heck - I'll just showcase them together! I am quite impressed with this collection, altho there are some missteps. I'll go into the details after the cut!

I've taken a lot of pictures of this collection. You'll notice four photos for each color - sunlight, shade, indoors with natural light and indoors with flash (in that order, as if you are reading a book). I've done this for several reasons. I want to provide a wide variety of lighting options for you to see how the polish looks.

My favorite of this collection is Carnival Red, a sleek creamy red that is inching its way toward my Top 10 of 2014 list. Two coats were perfection, and the formula is amazing. It's just the perfect shade of red.

Tropicoral is a great color, but I had some issues with the formula. It was a bit thick and a little streaky on the first coat. I tried to even it out on the second, but that didn't always work. You can see the uneven-ness on my pointer and middle fingers. It just takes finesse, and unfortunately, on this day, I guess I didn't have any :)

Oh Palm on the Beach - such amazingness! It had a little bit of a problem formula, but it turned out to just be a little on the thick side. So when doing the two coats, I went uber thin - and that helped a lot! This color is just so in your face. It is more a cream, but it does have a jelly-like quality in the way it shines.

Jacaranda Flower is such a gorgeous purple!  No issues with the formula. It melted on my nails in two coats. I can't say enough great things about this polish. I will definitely be wearing this again soon, and more than likely fairly often!

Copabanana is the cutest name! This polish has a light shimmer running thru the overwhelming creaminess. I had no issue with the formula, and it went on fairly smoothly.

I had a few issues with Sweet Melon. It was very thick and goopy, and it didn't spread very well. I tried some thinner, but that didn't work as well as I'd hoped. You can see in my photos that it's a little streaky. You can see lines...

Amazon Green is the one borderline metallic in the collection. It has definite brushstroke issues, but, and this is weird, the formula wasn't awful. It just looks this way!

The one I don't have is a blue color, I think it's called Ocean Blue? It's a very pretty blue that is rumored to be a dupe or near-dupe of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue (the original). Do you see any of these colors you like? I, of course, am in love with Carnival Red! You can get these, in their own display wherever NYC is sold - I usually find mine at KMart and Rite Aid.
