Every week I will bring you nail art! Thursdays used to be Fail Art Thursday, but hopefully I'll have less "fail" here! I'm going to do this series (for as long as I can), with nail art inspired by books! The covers of books specifically. I hope to be able to do this EVERY week - and I'm going to try my hardest to make this a weekly feature - there are SO many books I can utilize :)
Today's book is one I've never heard of - The Rise of the Wyrm Lord by Wayne Thomas Batson. It just caught my eye in the library a few weeks ago. It's a gorgeous cover! I could never get it to come out right, tho. All the visions in my head of how to do my nails went out the window when I couldn't execute them. But this one's not so bad. I made a pledge to always show the good and the bad.
For this nail art I used all Milani nail polish: Rapid Orchid (sent for review), Sangria Rush (purchased by me), Scarlet Ibis and Jiffy Orange (both sent for review). I just love these Milani polishes. They are rich colors. These particular polishes are no longer made. Milani discontinued this type and completely redid their polish line.
I finally settled on a gradient with Rapid Orchid, Scarlet Ibis and Jiffy Orange - but only on my middle two fingers. As you can see, clean-up wasn't easy, so I decided to limit myself hahah I added Sangria Rush as a gradient on my pointer and pinky, but you can't even really tell.
Overall, I'm not really happy with the way this turned out. I'm usually pretty good at gradients, but this one just doesn't do it for me. However, this is much better than the other nail art ideas I tried! hahah I tried just sponging colors on, but that didn't work; I tried a radial gradient, but the colors just wouldn't gel right. *shrug* Sometimes things just don't work out!
So what do you guys think? I am really looking forward to what I can accomplish by continuing this feature! Is there a book you'd like to see me attempt nail art inspired by? I'll gladly take suggestions! I can even get the book checked out from the library if need be ;)
