Every week I will bring you nail art! Thursdays used to be Fail Art Thursday, but hopefully I'll have less "fail" here! I'm going to do this series (for as long as I can), with nail art inspired by books! The covers of books specifically. If you have suggestions of books for me to check out, please let me know! Even tho I'm a big reader, there are still books I've never heard of... and even after doing this series for a few years, I can still use suggestions.
Today's feature is based on the cover of Girl of Nightmares, which is the sequel to last week's nail art on Anna Dressed in Blood. I love both of these books, and I will be reading this again sometime soon. I really wish Kendare Blake would write more stories in this world! The main character hunts and kills evil spirits, but he meets his match with the beautiful, terrible Anna. It's dark and gothic, and totally YA, but I still love it :)
Used for this mani are China Glaze Igniting Love and Out Light A Light (sent for review); Pure Ice Superstar (purchased); Milani Black Swift and Dark Coffee (sent for review); and Wet n Wild matte top coat (purchased). The only tool I used was a cosmetic sponge - I just dabbed everything on. It was very strategic, tho! :)
I started with a base of the white polish, and then dabbed around the outside of my pointer and pinky fingers with a mixture of Black Swift and Out Like A Light. I dabbed some of Dark Coffee on the top of my middle and ring fingers and the top insides of the pointer and pinky fingers, and Igniting Love on the bottoms - them I dabbed Black Swift over the tops of the middle and ring. Am I confusing you yet? I think I just confused myself... I topped with the matte top coat.
Here's the finished product! I'm not sure I like it as much as My Anna Dressed in Blood mani, but I do like this one. These covers are just so stunning. The imagery is beautiful, and the use of color is spot on. I love red and black together (or any variation of blacks and reds). Not only is it my son's school colors, but it's the colors of the End It Movement! Speaking of which, I've started prep for my yearly awareness giveaway - if you'd like to donate, let me know!
So what do you guys think? I am really looking forward to what I can accomplish by continuing this feature! Is there a book you'd like to see me attempt nail art inspired by? I'll gladly take suggestions! I can even get the book checked out from the library if need be ;)
