So I'm a stacker. I like Tetris, and I think it's fun to see just how close to Jenga I can get with things. Case in point, the area of the dresser top where "my" stuff goes - you know, my face stuff, my creams, serums, brushes, regular use makeup, etc. are. The area is, well, a big old mess. Or at least it was. I purchased a nifty little caddy from Mary & Martha to use for storage :)
This type of caddy could really be purchased just about anywhere. I purchased mine through Mary & Martha because I have a friend who is a consultant, and to be perfectly honest, I love a lot of the Mary & Martha products. This one had been on my wishlist for a while, and I finally just decided to bite the bullet and get it. Mary & Martha, without getting too wordy, is a company owned by Dayspring, which is a division of Hallmark. It's home furnishings and serving items designed to help you be both the Mary and the Martha at any gathering in your home. The biblical story of Mary and Martha centers on 2 sisters, one who rushes around to serve Jesus, and the other who sits at Jesus' feet and worships him. So basically, all this stuff is a nice way of hosting your party and chatting up your guests at the same time - along with sharing the gospel in a subtle way. Some items have biblical references or verses, while some just have inspiring and uplifting words or phrases.
BUT on to my mess. Below you can see the utter chaos that is the top of my dresser - stuff just stacked up, pressed in, leaning all over. It was a constant worry that if I hip checked the dresser by accident that everything would come crashing down. I like to have a lot of my stuff right within arm's reach. This side of the dresser is right by a mirror, the mirror I use for makeup and getting ready.
So here's a closer look at the caddy and the inside. The only thing else I could want would be smaller compartments. Right now, I've got a shot glass in one of the front compartments to hold brushes and smaller stuff like eyeliner pencils. That seems to be working out okay. But if maybe one of those smaller sections was sectioned into 4? That might be even more perfect! The design on the outside is not exactly my style if I'm being choosy, but it's not bad. I believe this caddy is actually supposed to be used for the kitchen (like for napkins, utensils, etc.), but I think it works just fine for my stuff :)
And voila! Here it is full of all of my stuff! haha The little Parallel Worlds box next to it is an NYX movie tie-in makeup set from Mortal Instruments City of Bones. To be perfectly honest, I'm not even sure what's in that box. I just like the way it looks haha! You can see all my serums, moisturizers and eye stuff, as well as my brushes and powders... and just about everything else! I've got my Too Faced palettes in the back corner, as those are the ones I reach for the most.
Do you guys have an organized area? I'm glad I finally buckled down and got mine in order. I like the way everything just fits, and everything is easy to find! If I'm looking for something, I know exactly where it is. No hunting and searching!
