I've been meaning to get this post up for several weeks, but the past few weeks have been crazy. I was offered the chance to try LipSense, and I'll admit, at first, I wasn't sure I even wanted to try it out. But I figured I really needed to try it to form an opinion, right? I needed to go into this with an open mind - and not just assume it wouldn't work for me. So, I buckled down and chose the shade Moca, which is a red-brown that is super pretty!
Have you guys heard of LipSense? It's supposed to last all day. Seriously. I wasn't sure what I thought going in, but I did get a gorgeous color. Isn't this shade pretty? This stuff may seem, in the beginning, like it's not working. There are active agents in the product to exfoliate your lips. The good thing I found? I regularly exfoliate, so it wasn't a big deal with me. You may experience peels and weirdness. This is normal for the first few days. Think of it as preparing your lips for the product. My peeling only really happened once. However, I use exfoliating lip gloss every night before bed.
So here's how it works. You put the color on your lips - it took 2 swipes of color over my lips - and make sure it's not too thick. Let it dry between coats. You can do as many as 3 coats. When the last coat is dry, put on the protective gloss, which is pictured below on the top right. This gloss should go with you wherever you go. You can reapply it when your lips start to feel a little dry, especially when you're about to eat, and after.
Above is the remover. I honestly didn't use it all that much. When I hit a certain point in the day, I just stopped putting the gloss on... and by the time of night rolled around when I was taking my LipSense off, all I had to do was use a little lip scrub, and it wiped right off!
But can I substatiate these claims for myself? Below is 2 photos, side by side, of me wearing this color. On the left was taken about 9 a.m. on a Sunday, indoors. The picture on the right was the same day, about 7 p.m., at my house, in my front doorway. Yes, the light is different, but you can tell how the LipSense held up. It went strong all day!
Ok, there are some downsides. The gloss is super glossy. I'm more of a matte person, but I know there is matte gloss, so perhaps that would be more my stride. I do love this color, and I have worn it several times. I believe it still works for me because, like I mentioned, I exfoliate my lips daily. Another downside is the gloss is slippery. Like, if you put too much on, it spreads. All around the lower half of your face! I had an oily looking chin and cheeks for a while before I got used to it. I had to find the balance between too much and not enough :)
There is a variety of shades to choose from. I was offered this opportunity from Lazy Betty haha, yes, that's her! :) She also has a Facebook group you can join! This does stand the test of time - and I can say I lick my lips a lot, but this held up to it. I might purchase a few more shades to have around.
