Favorite nail art of 2014 - by Confessions of a Sarcastic Mom!

My second Favorites Post for 2014! This one is nail art. I will be the first to admit I'm not adept at nail art. I do have my moments haha! But for the most part, I don't think I'm any good.... except these 10 instances :) My nails have changed SO MUCH during the course of this year!

AND MY FAVORITE NAIL ART THAT I CREATED THIS YEAR!??!

So what do you think? Do you like any of these? Do you have favorites of your own? Are you like me and are hit and miss with nail art? hahah

Putting my best face forward with Perfectly Posh!

I'm on the hunt for skin care items. Pretty much all the time. I'm always looking for products that work well with my skin and are effective. I was recently offered the opportunity to try out different products from Perfectly Posh, a direct sale company based in the USA, with a range of great products. I have tried Posh before, and I've even ordered some stuff on my own! Let me tell you, these three products I'm going to talk about today? I have ordered all 3, and they are on their way to me now.

Starting with Shine Bright Like a Diamond - a microderm scrub. There's actually diamond powder in there! Using this scrub is only recommended once per week, and I can see why! It made my skin so soft and smooth, I was STILL feeling the effects days later! I will caution against using it more than once per week, no matter how gentle you think it feels as it's rubbed into your skin. It can cause a reaction if used more often - because it is so effective. Make sure if you use this, you follow it up with a moisturizer.

Ingredients: Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Corindon Diamond Mineral (Alumina), Glycerin, Water/Aqua, Sucrose Laurate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Bisabolol, Fragrance/Parfum

I LOVE the way my face feels after using Complexion Perfection, a pepperminty daily face wash. My face tingles (in a good way), and feels so clean! It's fragranced with peppermint oil, so of course it smells amazing, but it works well too! Walnut shells act as a massaging agent, and it gives my skin a clean feeling like I've not felt with the face wash I'm currently using (which is great don't get me wrong). My skin just feels more clean.

Ingredients: Water/Aqua, Alpha Olefin Sulfonate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycol Stearate, Polyquaternium 7, Cocamide MEA, Coco Glucoside, Glyceryl Oleate, Juglans Regia (Walnut) Shell Powder, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) Leaf Oil, Methyl Gluceth 20, Acrylates/C10 30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Disodium EDTA, Potassium Sorbate, PEG 150 Distearate, Benzophenone 4, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate Potassium Hydroxide

For every time I wash my face with one of the above cleanser/scrubs, I use Moisturize 911, a caffeinated moisturizer. This moisturizer is very light and has a pleasant orange-y smell. It's not overpowering. It soaks in quickly and leaves my skin hydrated. The caffeine added to the moisturizer helps with brightening and tightening. I've not used this product long enough to see those type of results, but since I ordered a tube, we shall see :)

Ingredients:Water/Aqua, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Polyglyceryl 6 Distearate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cetyl Alcohol, Dimethicone, Cyclopentasiloxane, Stearic Acid, Phenoxyethanol, Caffeine, Sodium Hyaluronate, Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate, Panthenol, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Tocopherol, Carbomer, Caprylyl glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Sodium Phytate, Potassium Hydroxide, Xanthan Gum

So, do you guys own or use any Perfectly Posh products? I have several I use daily, and so many more I want to try! I have two friends who currently sell these great products - Cara and Erin. They always keep me informed of sales and specials. All Perfectly Posh products are made in the USA

Confessions of a Sarcastic Mom's favorite makeup of 2014!

Hello all! Today is the first of my yearly favorites - and I'm starting with makeup, skin care and beauty products! These aren't necessarily products that are new in 2014 - just products I loved in 2014! :) They are not in any particular order. Each of these products I have posted about - and you can get more info by clicking on the links :) Let's start with...

Batiste Dry Shampoo - I can't live without it.

Batiste Dry Shampoo is like the mythical Emerald City. I had a heck of a time getting to it, but now that I'm there, it's totally an "I'm home!" situation. I'd heard about other brands with dry shampoos, and I've tried most of them - only to be let down on so many levels. My hair is tempermental. It's baby fine, and I've got a ton of it. That gives the impression that my hair is thick, easily styled and manageable. Reality is my hair is straight, bone straight and even more straight. Let's put it this way - I can't get a perm to stay in my hair. The only way it appears to have any semblance of body, my stylist has to cut my hair into such amazing layers that the ends of my layers curl up.

But with Batiste Dry Shampoo, in my favorite fruity and cheeky Cherry, My hair has (momentary) body and it's stylable! Granted - I only use this stuff on days when I don't wash my hair. I wonder what would happen if I used it on a day I do wash my hair....  Anyway lol. So how does this miraculous stuff work?

1. Shake the can and pull your hair straight up off the top of your head (so that it kind of ends up looking like a bustier that Madonna would wear back in the day), And spray the dry shampoo on your roots. Don't forget to give the mirror a sideways glance that says you mean business.

2. Massage the product (which comes out as a white-ish aerosol-y powder) gently into your scalp and through your hair. This is the part where it works its magic. The white-ish aerosol-y powder soaks up all the oil in your scalp and hair, leaving it looking clean. Make sure you give the mirror a sultry stare with a smirk, letting it know you're almost ready.

3. Give it a minute, then style as usual and go! And look at you smiling :)

Do you guys use dry shampoo? If you do, what's your favorite? Do you use Batiste? I first purchased this from Ulta to try, and I've repurchased from there. I also lucked out and found it at TJMaxx, as well. I am stocked up! I won't have to buy any for a while. Which is good, because I love this stuff :)

NOTD: Different Dimension Heavenly Waters and Never Grow Up

This post, featuring two Different Dimension polishes, starts my jump back into posting! I've got a beautiful Nails of the Day to show you - using two polishes I recently received in a secret Christmas swap. My swap buddy did good - sending me Heavenly Waters and Never Grow Up!

I used Never Grow Up as an accent, of course, and I used a white base for that nail. I used one coat of the polish over the white base. I wish I could have managed to get more of the blue glitters out of the milky white base, but with one coat, there wasn't much I could do.

Check out that holo shine! The blue is a gorgeous shade on its own, but add the holo into it, and it just makes it that much better. I've mentioned before how I like dark holos much better than anything on the light end of the spectrum... so this one is great :)

I wore this for 4 days before I decided to change my polish. No tipwear, no chips... I just needed a change! Do you have either of these polishes? Or any Different Dimension polishes? I have a few, and I really like this brand!

FingerPaints Bright Lights, Big City collection!

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY! Happy birthday to me! :) I've already snagged some great gifts, and I plan to spend the rest of my day relaxing and doing absolutely nothing! But today's post isn't about my birthday, it's about the FingerPaints Bright Lights, Big City collection! This is a flashy, shifty collection! With it being winter, I have scant amounts of natural light - but for the most part these look best in natural, non-direct light. So what are my thoughts? Check them out after the cut!

Pure Ice Holiday Glitters for 2014!

Glitter! It's in the air this holiday season with Pure Ice Nail Polish! They have released six brand new glittery offerings for the 2014 Holiday Season. All 6 can be worn on their own with minimal VNL, but I tried them over black, as well. It's a fine line - they are almost too packed with glitter to be worn over other colors! I guess this one is going to boil down to personal preference. My thoughts? Check what's behind the cut!

NailTini Blue Flame swatches+review

Today I've got some fancy layering to show you - with NailTini Blue Flame! Blue Flame is a milky shiny blue-tinged wonder than can seriously make anything pretty. I use it over a variety of colors, but I have three or NailTini polishes to layer it over in today's post. First, let's check out Blue Flame over Bordeaux, a deep wine creme. Isn't the blue flash so pretty? I've apparently showcased this combo before!

Next up is layering with the deep blue creme of Navy Grog. This is a very deep midnight blue. So deep and dark it borders black sometimes. Blue Flame really pops over this base :)

Finally, the deep raisin creme of Port! This polish is a little brown, a little red, maybe some purple thrown in?

Do you have any layering combos you like? Any special effects toppers? Do you have any NailTini polishes? I snagged all of these polishes at TJMaxx one amazing day - their formula is really great. I did get one from my ipsy bag a few months back, but I've yet to use it.
