The one with ORLY Mysterious Curse and Grave Mistake!

Happy Monday! I've decided to combine two posts together because these polishes both come from the same collection...and because they were super great, and I couldn't wait to put them up for you guys to see! I'm talking about two of the ORLY Dark Shadows collection - Mysterious Curse and Grave Mistake. I picked them up at Sally's over the weekend. I need to go back and exchange my bottle of Grave Mistake, and you'll see why at the end of the post hehe

Mysterious Curse is a beautiful dark grape-y purple with a solid sheath of blue shimmer running through it. Kind of like a bruise. Kind of like Galaxy Girl. Only more intense. I have noticed it's a dupe of ORLY Royal Velvet, which I do not own. Royal Velvet is currently back in the core line display at Sally's.

And now for my favorite of the two! If you've followed me a while you know my infatuation with vampy reds. I can't get enough of them! Well, Grave Mistake fits right in. It's the juiciest vampy red in my collection, I believe. I'm going to have to take my bottle back to Sally's and get a new one because of a wonky brush...

And a wonky brush?
Yep! It's cemented in there like that. It doesn't move! I was able to paint my nails with it but it was just weird. I'm talking it back to Sally's to get a new bottle. hahah

So what do you think of these polishes? What do you think of the movie? I am kind of disappointed in what they've done to the movie. I used to like the original soap opera version, and what they've made this movie into just doesn't hold true if Depp and Burton say they were actually fans of the original series. I may boycott it alongside horror movie remakes I have refused to see (Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween).

The one with Del Sol Trick or Treat

Really quick post today! I got this awesome color changing polish from Rebecca at Rebecca Likes Nails. It's so cool! Orange in dark, dark brown/black in light...
I think this polish is super cool! I love the way it changes color - the only complaint I have is that it shows my painting mistakes in darker form hahaha :)

  • The one where I just talk...I hope you will read.

Today got away from me. I had planned a very special Franken Friday. Until I realized what today is. Today is the 6th anniversary of the day I almost died. So at 2:30 this afternoon, you can rest assured that I will be curled up on my couch bawling. Or having a panic attack. Or, perhaps this is the year that I will be able to look at the clock at 2:30 and not feel like vomiting? I so look forward to the day when April 27 becomes nothing more than a day toward the end of April for me.

That being said, my nails are naked today.

In case you don't know about today, and what it means to me, you can read it here. It's not bloody or gory. But I think you should read it. Not only because it's very important to me, but because it will give you a little insight into why I am so excited about my nails and this blog.

And why my nails are naked today

The one with Fail Art Thursday - bright grunge nails!

Have you all seen Jamie's grunge nails? Absolutely stunning - Jamie is SO creative :) I don't know what possessed me to try this. This definitely is fail art! haha I used colors from the new Zoya Beach collection - Lara, Wednesday, Arizona and Reagan. Please do not pay attention to my cuticles or clean-up. I tried to clean up but I smudged a nail, so I figured I needed pictures before I smudged any others.
The technique I used was just like Jamie's....I layered the four polishes and then used a paintbrush dipped in acetone to create the streakiness. Mine doesn't look nearly as interesting as the ones that used black. So let this be a lesson....you can't vary much color-wise! Unfortunately, it just looks like a big old mess!

The one with Random Wednesday - OPI, Jesse's Girl and Ulta!

Happy Hump Day everyone! I decided to burn off some swatches today in prep for tomorrow's Fail Art Thursday and Friday's special Franken Friday!! I'm super excited for you guys to see this week's franken. It's very dear to me :)

But on to the polish! First up is an OPI black label called Tangerini Bikini. I got it from my friend Stacie who is a local nail tech. She laughs at me when I go gaga over some of the polish she has...and decided one day to sell me some :) The orange shimmer is so right up my alley! Since it's a black label, that means it's older...and therefore the formula is great!
Next we have an older swatch of Ulta The Devil Wears Red. My nails were quite long whenever I took these photos! hahah This color is close to a pinkish hue to me, or maybe it's just that it's got some pink and/or orange in it. It's a creme, and is awesome in two coats.
And finally....a Jesse's Girl polish that I'm not sure of the name! Girl's Night Out maybe? The formula was really thin on this one, and I noticed shrinkage the next day when I wore it. Could be a combination of the formula and the top coat. I love the color, tho. It's super pretty!

The one with Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies!

Ohemgee. I have fallen in love with the most gorgeous vampy red creme. Please don't tell Vampire State Building. But in this instance, I think it might fall under the old Gin Blossom's song..."You can't call it cheatin', she reminds me of you." (lyrics © Hopkins, Valenzuela). I'm talking about Deborah Lippmann Single Ladies. It has stolen my heart. At least for now.

Isn't it beautiful? Pictured is two coats. Two flawless coats. Maybe next time, to add to the opaqueness, I will go one more coat and see what happens. I honestly did not want to take this polish off my nails. I haven't wanted to do that since, well, Vampire State Building...

I got this polish, and a few other Deborah Lippmanns at Apothica.com. I'm already planning which other polishes of hers I want to try. Apothica.com has a great selection!

The one with Deborah Lippmann Lady Sings The Blues!

Good morning! I have another Deborah Lippmann pretty today - Lady Sings the Blues! It's a deep dark blue base with big flakes of hexagonal silver glitter and silver microglitter. Opaqueness can be achieved in two coats! But I liked the polish better with one coat over a dark blue.
Here is one coat of Lady Sings the Blues over Catrice Be Indiglow. Even at only one coat, you can see just how packed the glitter is!
This is two coats on its own. Either way it's fabulous! I've found I like the darker Deborah Lippmann shades as opposed to the bright reds or light cremes. They are just more my style :) I got this polish, and a few other Deborah Lippmann's at Apothica.com. I'm already planning which other polishes of hers I want to try. Apothica.com has a great selection!

The one with Deborah Lippmann Billionaire!

Happy Earth Day! I have decided to showcase for you, a wonderful deep green polish from Deborah Lippmann today :) It's called Billionaire and it's the creamiest shade of hunter green. I used two coats. and while the formula is a bit on the thin side, it was not an issue. It is one of those tricky shades where if you're in the right light, it looks like you're wearing black polish :)

I just love the deeep look of this color. My previous DL polishes left something to be desired with me, so I'm super glad this one worked out so well. I'm a fan of deep, dark colors (even tho my skintone sometimes doesn't like them hahah) I got this polish, and a few other Deborah Lippmann's at Apothica.com. I'm already planning which other polishes of hers I want to try. Apothica.com has a great selection!
